Spark a Career in the Electrical Trades

As the US population grows, skilled electricians will be in demand to wire the new homes, restaurants, schools, offices and other structures that must be built to house the population growth.

New technologies are expected to spur opportunities for those who can install and maintain complex wiring systems, while the replacement of outdated electrical systems will create work to rehab older buildings.

The Electrical Trades program at Fortis delivers an education to prepare students for an entry-level position as a residential, commercial or industrial electrician.  Learn basic wiring, cabling, circuits and grounding.  Develop good troubleshooting techniques and the skills to read complex electrical schematic drawings – talents which employers desire in prospective employees.

According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment prospects are good for skilled electricians with 12% growth expected nationally between 2008 and 2018.  Maintenance electricians should experience steady growth opportunity while demand for construction electricians will fluctuate from state to state depending upon market conditions.
